DAILY CRUISES
Symi Island and Panormitis
The small island of Symi lies on the north of Rhodes and is the most picturesque one of the Dodecanese group. After a two hour cruise along the Turkish coast, your first acquaintance with Symi will be extraordinary: you will discover an island that lies under the protection of Unesco, whose houses are all built and restored with the same architectural style and painted in various colours. The village's narrow streets are worth a stroll and will fascinate you.
Symi is also the island of natural sponges. You can purchase one to use at home in your bathroom and learn how difficult it was for divers to reach these sponges in the past.
In the afternoon the boat will bring you to the other side of the island where the big Panormitis Monastery overlooks the bay. It is dedicated to the Archangel Michael and is an important place of pilgrimage for Greek people.
